London Green Channel

Find a greener way of life on the banks of the River Thames

London Green Channel proposes to connect the banks of the River Thames with their surroundings through the creation of a continuous green landmark.

This stretch of green would provide a learning ground for people about the natural environment, give priority to walkers and cyclists on a dedicated track, but also be reachable by all modes of transport.

The Channel would the make the most out of unused open spaces along the river banks by creating unique new spaces designed to engage individuals, groups, organisations.

By introducing a multifunctional landscape with aquatic plants for cleaning water and helping drainage, fruit- and crop-based planting that can be harvested, retrofitting green roofs and green walls to buildings, this project aims to make the principles of green infrastructure a way of life for Londoners.
