Marlborough Sports Garden

Sustainable sporting landscapes

The vision for Marlborough Playground is to create a cohesive landscape environment that provides a diverse range of high-quality local sports amenities.

Designed and implemented with social and ecological sustainability in mind, the project would play an integral role in local green infrastructure initiatives such as Southwark Open Space Strategy and Bankside Urban Forest.

The site is currently a barren and unwelcoming expanse of empty Tarmac. Under the proposals for Marlborough Playground, trees and planting would be used to create structural definition for recreational, cafe and viewing areas, while the use of distinctly designed planters would create a sense of unity.

As a safe, managed green space, it addresses the needs of local schools, residents and businesses, providing new employment opportunities for local service providers and promoting the benefits of sport.
